Biography

Antoine Dufilho believes that it is only by staying true to one’s roots that growth can truly happen. His own roots are firmly planted in both art and medicine, and his sculptures reflect this unique heritage.

As a child, he was introduced to the plastic arts by his great-uncle, who was at once an actor, painter, and sculptor. This early influence sparked his creative instincts. Later, his studies in medicine gave him a deep understanding of the mechanics of the human body, knowledge that shaped his discipline and precision, but left little room for the creative freedom he craved. After three years, he chose to change direction and pursue architecture, a path that opened a new way of seeing and making.

Architecture led him to a fascination with frameworks and structures. By exposing these frameworks, Antoine discovered how form could shift between fullness and emptiness, creating sculptures that feel both solid and light, both grounded and in motion. This approach remains central to his art today.

After graduating from the Lille School of Architecture and Landscape Design, he built his own studio in the Lille countryside from the ground up, using converted sea containers as a space for invention. Entirely self-taught as a sculptor, he experimented with techniques such as moulding and welding, gradually developing the distinctive aesthetic that now defines his work. In 2012, he committed himself fully to sculpture, allowing his practice to evolve naturally with time and inspiration.

Antoine Dufilho’s style is now instantly recognisable: a blend of architectural precision, sculptural freedom, and a play of rhythm and light. His work has gained international attention and is represented in galleries across Paris, Geneva, Taipei, Los Angeles, and Miami, with exhibitions both in France and abroad
