STARGAZING HARE

£1,600.00

Artist: Ben Lee

Imagine sitting outside on a warm summer evening, not a cloud in sight, the sky full of stars, and in the centre of it all, your hare gazing upwards, lost in wonder. There’s something truly magical about that moment.

“This piece was inspired by a deeply personal story. After losing my father to suicide, I wanted to create something that always looked up, searching for the brightest star in the sky. Growing up, my mum and dad would tell me that when we lose someone we love, they become the brightest stars watching over us. “

The Stargazing Hare is a tribute to love, loss, and hope, a reminder to keep looking up.

Originally from the Cotswolds, Ben Lee creates distinctive metal sculptures that breathe new life into reclaimed materials, most notably, horseshoes. Each piece celebrates the remarkable journey of these humble objects: forged for strength, worn in motion, and eventually transformed into art that endures.

With a background working closely with horses, Ben developed a deep respect for the materials and stories embedded in every shoe. What once carried strength, speed, and spirit across countless miles is reimagined into expressive forms that speak of resilience and renewal.

Growing up in a creative household, his father a clockmaker and his mother an artist, Ben was immersed in craftsmanship and imagination from an early age. This heritage, combined with a love of the natural world, now finds expression in both his horseshoe works and his abstract garden sculptures.

Through his art, Ben invites viewers to see beauty in transformation, to appreciate how materials with a past can be reborn into pieces to be loved for years to come.
