Golf Ball

£3,500.00

Artist: Shaun Gagg

Medium: Welded Steel Pipe Sculpture

This sculpture takes the form of a perfect golf ball. It was crafted by carefully cutting steel pipes into thin slices and then skillfully welding these pieces together from the inside, creating a seamless and sturdy structure.

Shaun’s sculptural interpretation of the humble golf ball is anything but ordinary. Composed of meticulously cut steel rings, each welded with surgical precision, the piece forms a perfect one-metre sphere, an ode to geometry and craftsmanship. The surface undergoes a rigorous transformation: liquid-dipped, galvanised, and finished in a brilliant white automotive paint, then sealed with a clear lacquer that ensures its luminous sheen endures through the seasons.

The sculpture rests atop a solid concrete base, anchored by a steel plate that can be discreetly pegged into the earth. When surrounded by gravel or grass, the illusion is complete: the ball appears to sit effortlessly atop a tee, poised for play. By day, it gleams with a crisp, modern elegance; by night, when illuminated, it becomes a radiant beacon, an arresting focal point in any landscape.
