Biography

Margot Roulleau-Gallais grew up in Versailles, just outside Paris, where the grandeur and elegance of the palace gardens first ignited her fascination with form, movement, and storytelling through sculpture. This early inspiration shaped her creative path and continues to influence her work today.

She went on to study Technical Arts and Special Effects at Wimbledon College of Art in London, where she developed a strong foundation in figurative sculpture and mastered a broad range of technical disciplines surrounding the craft. During her studies, she was mentored by Allan Sly, a renowned British sculptor whose public works can be found throughout London. Under his guidance, Margot refined her ability to create lifelike sculptures in naturalistic and expressive poses, capturing not only the physical likeness but the spirit and emotion of her subjects.

Allan Sly once remarked that “capturing likeness is one of Margot’s real talents […] She is a young artist who has worked for leading British sculptors and is attracting patrons for commissions in her own right.”

Now an established commission-based sculptor, Margot has created portraits of notable figures including Thierry Henry, Edward Lear, and A. A. Milne, while also collaborating with leading contemporary artists such as Yinka Shonibare. Her professional experience extends to working as a sculptor for Madame Tussauds, further showcasing her precision and technical excellence.

With a keen eye for form and texture, and an unwavering passion for clay, Margot’s work seeks to transform imagination into tangible reality. She thrives on the creative challenges of commissioned work, producing pieces that range from intimate portrait busts to large-scale public sculptures, each carefully designed to harmonize with its surrounding environment.
